- Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared a list of devices he expects to see at the upcoming Apple Event
- These include the iPhone 17 series, AirPods Pro 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3
- Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event is scheduled for September 9
It’s almost time for the next Apple event – the tech giant’s next keynote, titled “Awe Dropping”, will take place on September 9, and will almost certainly bring official announcements for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, as well as several other new Apple products.
Ahead of the event, Bloomberg’s resident Apple expert Mark Gurman has compiled a list of every new device we’re expecting to see announced, from the new iPhones to refreshed Apple Watches to the long-rumored AirPods Pro 3.
As keen TechRadar readers may know, Mark Gurman is one of the most reliable and trustworthy tipsters in the tech industry – while his predictions are still very much based on rumors, they hold as much weight as unconfirmed information can.
Gurman’s list includes references to widely reported rumors, as well as some surprises. Keep reading for a full breakdown.
iPhone 17
Apple always releases its new iPhone series in September, so it almost goes without saying that we’ll see the iPhone 17 and its variants revealed at the “Awe Dropping” keynote.
Gurman suggests that this year’s base model iPhone will have a larger 6.3-inch ProMotion display, rather than the static 120Hz screen that was previously rumored. This would give the standard iPhone 17 the same display as the iPhone 17 Pro, which would be a huge move considering how slowly Apple has been to give its standard flagship modern display tech.
The list also hints at a new, faster A19 chipset, which is in line with our expectations.
iPhone 17 Air
As we’ve previously reported, Apple is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus with a new thinner-and-lighter iPhone 17 Air, with a new design, single rear camera, and worse battery life.
Gurman adds that the iPhone 17 Air could have a 6.6-inch display, slightly reduced from the 6.7-inch screen on the iPhone 16 Plus. He also suggests that the iPhone 17 Air could get the Apple C1 modem, while the other iPhone 17 models will stick with Qualcomm chips for wifi and cellular connectivity.
We may also see an iPhone 4-style bumper case for the iPhone 17 Air, which seems like a sensible accessory for a phone focused on thinness.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have been the subject of much discussion in the months up to now, as several rumors, leaked images, and tipoffs have suggested that Apple’s highest-end handsets are in for a major redesign, with a Google Pixel-style bar-shaped camera housing and two-tone rear panel.
Gurman’s list corroborates the new camera housing, but not the two-tone panel, only suggesting that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will ditch the titanium chassis first seen on the iPhone 15 Pro for aluminum. Internally, we’re likely to see a new A19 Pro chipset with performance upgrades, and Gurman suggests battery life improvements, too.
And as we’ve previously reported, other rumors point to some nice camera upgrades for this year’s Pro iPhones. Gurman suggests a 48MP telephoto camera is indeed on the way, and surprisingly mentions a variable aperture for the main camera, which we thought would come with next year’s iPhone 18 Pro.
Other surprising camera suggestions from Gurman include simultaneous recording with the front and rear camera (a feature Android has boasted for a while), and the “biggest ever upgrade” for the selfie camera, which has been stuck at 12MP for years.
Apple Watch Ultra 3
If current rumors are anything to go by, it’s set to be a big year for the Apple Watch family. As we’ve been expecting, Gurman suggests that we’ll see a new Apple Watch Ultra this year, with a display the same size as the Apple Watch Series 10 (though it’s not clear if this means 42mm or 46mm).
Other new features for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 could include a new S11 chipset, the ability to use satellite networks for calls and texts, and 5G Redcap connectivity.

Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE
As for Apple’s everyday smartwatches, we’re expecting September 9 to bring announcements for the Apple Watch Series 11 and a revised Apple Watch SE.
Gurman doesn’t offer too much insight on the Apple Watch Series 11. Other than a brighter screen, we’re expecting the Series 11 to look the same as last year’s Series 10, with new colors and wristbands to choose from.
As for the Apple Watch SE, Gurman suggests a new look, new display, and faster chip could be on the way. As our Apple Watch SE 3 hub recounts, Gurman previously suggested a more ‘kid-friendly’ look could be on the way for the Apple Watch SE, as Apple pivots to target younger audiences with its cheapest wearable.
AirPods Pro 3
It seems likely that we’ll see the AirPods Pro 3 revealed on September 9 – as we’ve previously reported, detailed leaks concerning dimensions and pairing tech have been floating around for a while, and there are even some claims that the new wireless earbuds will come with heart rate sensors and temperature tracking.
Gurman also mentions the heart-rate sensor rumor, but only says that Apple has tested the feature. He’s more confident about AI, and suggests the AirPods Pro 3 will be able to translate conversations between two different languages in realtime.
It’s also suggested that the charging case will be much smaller than the AirPods Pro 2, though it’s not like AirPods have ever been too bulky.
That’s all of the predictions for this year’s September Apple event announcements. Gurman does mention a list of other devices due for an update “soon”, but doesn’t give any possible release dates: these include the Vision Pro, iPad Pro M5, AirTag 2, Apple TV, and HomePod mini.
