Elsewhere, Proton VPN is down to $2.49/month, and ExpressVPN has entered the chat with a Basic two-year subscription for $2.44/month.

My favorite Black Friday VPN deal this year is definitely from Proton. While a lot of companies offer a secure and reliable product, trusting the people that run the VPN is really important to me.

I need to know the company genuinely cares about people’s right to privacy and the team behind Proton VPN doesn’t just say they care – they’ve built their entire business around it with audited and open-source applications.

For anyone relatively new to the world of VPNs, I’d recommend the Proton VPN Plus plan. It’s a great starting point and offers everything you need to effectively secure your internet browsing traffic. It’s also now less than $3 a month.

But if you’re like me and want to secure more of your digital footprint – think email, cloud, and passwords – you should check out the Proton Unlimited bundle. It’s more money, but I’d say it’s definitely worth it.

For me, ExpressVPN might’ve won Black Friday in terms of deals that simply give you a top VPN. Having long been restricted by a huge price tag, ExpressVPN Basic is now cheaper than both NordVPN and Proton at its lowest ever price.

The Basic plan still gives you access to more locations than any other VPN, top-notch encryption methods (including post-quantum encryption), and speeds that can comfortably handle anything. Plus, you get a basic amount of ad and malicious site blocking as standard.

It’s also easy to set up and forget about. The ad-blocking is very good for this, especially when it blocked around 90% of ads we threw at it during our latest lab tests and is turned on by a single toggle. The VPN itself also gives you a bunch of ways to auto-connect (or automatically shut off) your connection to keep you secure.

Fancy some more features? The Advanced and Pro plans are also massively discounted, but there’s not as many features as you might like there to be for the price. That’s why I’m recommending Basic over anything else, super-cheap, super-secure, it’s as simple as that
