- Google has explained more about the Gemini for Home rollout

Gemini is replacing Google Assistant everywhere, and that includes the Google Home app – though the switch hasn’t exactly been a smooth and seamless one. Now Google has posted a fresh set of answers to questions users have over the rollout.
As spotted by Android Authority, the new forum post primarily addresses the timing around when Gemini for Home will be going live. As per Google, it’s heading to users in the US first, with other markets getting it from the first quarter of 2026 (in other words, sometime before the end of March 2026).
Google further adds that the rollout is based on homes and not accounts, which is important for people who manage multiple homes – each of these homes will be upgraded separately as the Gemini update spreads further and further.
In the same forum post, Google also encourages user feedback on Gemini for Home, as it gets established: you can simply say “okay Google, send feedback” near one of your smart speakers or displays, and then share your thoughts. There are more details here.
Get your place in the queue
According to the freshly revised FAQ page, there’s no way to guarantee you’re next in line for Gemini for Home – you just have to be patient. That said, you do have to sign up for early access to the features to be considered as part of the first wave of updates.
You should also make sure your home address is up to date in the Google Home app, as addresses are how the rollout is being managed. Tapping your account picture (top right), then choosing Manage your Google Account and Personal info to make changes.
The forum post also mentions some positive feedback from early Gemini for Home users. Apparently it’s a “massive improvement”, a “game changer”, and “awesome” – though we suspect there’s been quite a bit of negative feedback too.
When the Gemini update does reach you, it should work on Google smart home devices going back 10 years. The AI basics will be available for free, but if you want advanced Gemini features, then you’ll need to pay for a Google Home Premium subscription.
