- The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are facing the longest shipping delays since the iPhone 11 in the US
- These phones also appear to be proving very popular in other regions
- We’ve detailed how long you can expect to wait for one in the US, the UK, and Australia
Between the new camera design, upgraded chipset, improved sensors, addition of a vapor chamber, and much more besides, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have a lot of upgrades – and it seems Apple fans have taken note, as these phones are in high demand, even by iPhone standards.
So, while the official release date for the iPhone 17 series is September 19, you might have to wait a while longer to get your hands on one of Apple’s new flagship phones.
According to Bank of America (via @DeItaone), the shipping dates for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are more extended than the iPhone 16 was at the same pre-order stage, with these being the longest delays we’ve seen in the US since the iPhone 11.
According to Phandroid, pre-orders in China have also broken records, and it’s reasonable to assume that the same might be true in other regions. All of which means that if you haven’t already ordered one of these phones, you could be in for quite a wait to get one.
Weeks to wait
The table below details the wait times you can expect if you order an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max right now in the US, UK, or Australia. Note, though, that the exact wait time will depend on the color and configuration, which is why you’ll find a wide window for each phone. And, of course, these delivery windows could change too.

If you’ve already ordered one, then you’ll probably know what your delivery estimate is, but even launch day orders of the iPhone 17 Pro Max were, in many cases, subject to delivery delays of several weeks, so even ordering early hasn’t guaranteed a speedy delivery.
Will these phones be worth the wait? Well, our full reviews aren’t yet live, so you might want to wait for those before placing your order – if you can stand an even longer wait to get one of these phones in your hands – but early signs are promising.
Battery life, performance, and the cameras have all been improved, at least on paper, and while the screens are similar to last year’s, they can now get brighter. That, plus a significantly different design (at least from the back), could well make the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max worth the purchase.
