I’ve been a PC gamer for more than two decades, and as any PC gamer will tell you, truly reliable hardware can be hard to come by. Most of us have that one piece of kit that we swear by, whether it’s a specific keyboard or a certain arm-mount monitor that’s seen us through years of gaming binges without ever letting us down. For me, that one piece of kit is the Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless.
A gaming mouse so comfortable, responsive, and dependable that when mine finally bit the dust last year after more than half a decade of heavy use, I went straight out and bought the exact same model again. That’s the sort of quality all tech products should aspire to: I don’t want to roll the dice on replacing my stuff every couple of years; I want something so good that I never want to use anything else again.
And now, I’m gonna share this gaming goodness with you: Black Friday is fast approaching, and as usual, I’m on the lookout for a discount on my favorite PC peripheral. Sure enough, it’s on sale already: you can snap up the Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless for $91.87 (was $119.99) at Amazon in the US, or for £99 (was £139.99) on Amazon UK.

So what exactly makes the Logitech G502 Lightspeed my personal pick of the best gaming mice? Well, for starters, it’s just supremely comfortable to use; I’ve got pretty large hands, and the ergonomic shape and rounded thumb rest mean I never have to worry about finger strain even during the lengthiest rampages in Doom: The Dark Ages.
The G502 Lightspeed, as the name suggests, packs a sensor capable of up to 25,600 DPI with fantastic accuracy, along with Logitech’s ultra-fast wireless technology to ensure you experience near-zero latency. It really works; plug in that wireless adapter and you’ve got a mouse that feels as responsive as if it were using a wired connection.
It’s also just quite a well-designed mouse in terms of the physical chassis. There are 11 remappable buttons, plus a ‘hyper fast’ scroll wheel that can be easily swapped between ratcheted and free scrolling. A hidden magnetic panel on the underside opens to reveal a space where you can add little metal weights (included in the box) to adjust the overall heft of the mouse, which is a nice touch. Oh, and it’s generally sturdy in terms of its construction, with my original one enduring about six years of daily work and gaming – lots, lots, and lots of clicks, in other words. So what are you waiting for? Be like me. Just buy this mouse, and never buy a different mouse again.
